Tent Rental FAQ

Tent rentals are the perfect accessory to planning a special event.  They can be used when hosting many occasions such as weddings, a graduation or a Bar Mitzvah. Tents can be rented in many sizes and can be equipped with dance floors, special lighting, sound systems and a stage.  These special additions can help make your event a very festive and memorable one.

Q: How do I know what size tent to rent?
A: There are many facts to take into consideration when renting a tent.  You should know how many people you plan to fit inside the tent and what is the tent going to be used for.  It is also important to know what type of seating you want, if you want a dance floor or a stage and if you will need buffet stations.

Q: Can a tent be installed on asphalt?
A:  A tent can be installed on asphalt but extra work may be required to do it. Stakes may have to be drilled into the asphalt to enable this to be done.

Q:  Does installing a rental tent require a permit?
A:  Anytime you are planning on renting a tent, it is important to inquire to your city or fire department to see if a permit is required.

Q: Can I rent a tent under any type of weather conditions?
A:  Tents are best used during nice weather.  They offer a limited amount of protection against sun and rain but they are not suitable for high wind and lightning conditions.  As they are temporary structures, there is the chance that the tents could blow over.

Q: Can a tent be rented during cold weather, such as in the late fall?
A: Yes, tents can be rented when the weather turns cold.  Some tent companies offer side curtains and heaters as well as fans for warm weather.

Q:  Is there anything that I need to be aware of when wanting to set up a rental tent?
A: Yes, you should know where sewer, electric and cable lines are located as well as sprinklers and power lines.  This is important because stakes have to be driven into the ground when erecting the tent.  These areas should be marked clearly.

Q:  What kinds of accessories are available for tents?
A:  There are many accessories available for tent rentals.  It is best to ask the company you are renting from what they have to offer.  Accessories may include items such as pop-up tents sides, mesh side walls, heaters, a wide variety of lighting, side walls and fans.

Q: How much space is required for a tent?
A:  Always allow at least five feet around the perimeter of a tent.  If you want to rent a tent that is 20 feet x 20 feet, then you need an area of 25 feet x 25 feet.

Q: What is the difference between pole tents and frame tents?
A:  Pole tents are supported by a center pole and side poles and require anchoring.  Frame tents are free standing and do not require center poles but do need to be anchored.
